Join TransAfrica and BloomBars with the screening Proud to be Cape Verdean: A Look at CapeVerdeans in the Golden State (2012, 55 min), by Mike Costa

Proud to be Cape Verdean is a documentary that captures the essence of the Cape Verdean culture in California through an insightful look at individuals and organizations and their desire to maintain their cultural identity.

This film highlights the unique Californian, the Cape Verdean, whose distinct classification of African and European roots present them as a robust ingredient in the “Melting Pot” we call America.

For our discussion we will speak with filmmaker Mike Costa, live via Skype. Our Q&A will also be moderated by Mwiza Munthali – the Public Outreach Director of TransAfrica.
