ECONOMIC JUSTICE

TransAfrica works to ensure that U.S. economic and humanitarian aid policies support people’s fundamental human rights, including having a safe job that pays enough to survive and thrive.

TransAfrica believes in people’s right to diverse economic opportunities including a safe job that provides a living wage and offers sufficient job protections. International Financial Institutions (IFIs), bi-lateral trade deals and investor rights that put profit over people have attacked the financial stability and autonomy of communities throughout the world. Governments continue to rely on loans and free trade to maintain global economic apartheid while private corporations use legal loopholes, including Vulture Funds, to expunge exorbitant resources from countries struggling to make ends meet.

The fight for global economic justice continues throughout the world. The international recession serves as just one recent example of our interconnectedness. TransAfrica advocates for the economic livelihood, fair distribution of wealth and job creation in the United States and across the African World.
