Topic and Guest: Liberation Movements in the Caribbean. Today Africa Now! continues the month long series called “African Liberation Month”: a focus on liberation and liberation movements throughout the African World, as we commemorate African Liberation Day on May 25.  This week “African Liberation Month” focus is the Liberation Movements in the Caribbean.  Africans in the Caribbean have consistently sought freedom from the earliest days of enslavement to the present.  Joining Africa Now! today to discuss the Liberation Movements in the Caribbean is Dr. Quito Swan.  Dr. Quito Swan is an Associate Professor of African Diaspora History at Howard University. His research interests focus on: Black movements, internationalism, and Pan Africanism; and specifically the global dynamics of Black Power across the Americas, Africa and Oceania. He is the author of Black Power in Bermuda: The Struggle for Decolonization.
