Topic: South Africans Celebrate 20 Years of Freedom; and Malawi Votes-- Interview with Presidential Candidate Lazarus Chakwera

April 27 marks the 20th anniversary of first non-racial democratic elections marking the end of apartheid in South Africa.  South Africans in the U.S. commemorate the occasion.  Another country in Southern Africa marking two important milestones this year is Malawi—20 years of multiparty democracy and 50 years of independence.  On May 20 the country will hold its fifth multiparty elections since 1994 following a democracy movement in the early 1990s.

Guests: Rev. Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, Malawi Congress Party's Presidential Candidate; and Mr. Henri Marolen, member of the South Africa Community in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area.
